Delta Delta Delta

ATO DDD songfest was a successful performance and bonding experience. All of our late night practices and sleepless nights paid off during the week of performances through the relationships we were able to create and strengthen with the ATO boys and our sisters.

Tri-Delta spent this last Wednesday night participating in our members only Philanthropy event, Sincerely Yours, a letter writing campaign where we send letters containing St. Jude information to our families, friends, and family friends.

Enclosed in each letter is a donation form, and each recipient has the opportunity to donate any amount of money directly to the hospital. Each of us was asked to bring in a minimum of 25 addresses.

For every 10 letters that are sent, an average of $100 dollars is donated to St. Jude Children's Hospital. This was an amazing night; a time spent with sister's, eating good food, and spreading our love and support for St. Jude!

Kappa Kappa Gamma

March has been an exciting and busy month for Kappa Kappa Gamma! We participated in Songfest with Gamma Phi Beta and Sigma Chi, and we were so thankful for our awesome Songfest choreographers, Courtney Allen and Tania El Bayar!

We participated in Psi U Think You Can Dance, and won second place thanks to Alex Chistolini who choreographed the dance.

We just participated in Anchor Splash and had so much fun spending a Saturday afternoon with the entire greek community at Pepperdine.

We recently had a recruitment workshop, run by Carson Byrd, to start getting everyone ready for rush in the Fall.

We are going to participate in ATO Gladiators and hopefully Pi Phi's ArrowSpike as well.  This weekend Kylie Hughes is singing at the Concert For Hope, hosted by Sigma Chi.  We are all looking forward to our Spring formal coming up on Saturday, which Chelsea Cowley has done
an awesome job planning!

Delta Gamma

As March rolls to a close, Delta Gamma Eta Alpha chapter is keeping their energy and presence on campus high!

Two of DG’s most favorite events of the year fall in March, making it one of the most exciting times of the year for us. Competing along side the gentlemen of Psi Upsilon and the wonderful women of Kappa Alpha Theta, Delta Gamma put their heart and song into another great year of Songfest.

Although we did not secure the win this year, everyone had a blast telling the story of Mother and Daughter Nature and hanging out with Psi U and Theta.

Adding to the craziness, as songfest came to a close, DG kicked it into high gear to get themselves and the campus ready for AnchorSplash! Our philanthropy, held at the pool every year, raises money for the Delta Gamma Foundation which benefits Service for Sight, as well as our local philanthropy, the Blind Children’s Center of LA.

The buzz on campus about AnchorSplash cannot be drowned out by the rain, as this year is promising to be one of our best AnchorSplash events yet. This March has been a busy one, and the women of Delta Gamma have loved every second of it.

Canned food drive for the homeless at various grocery stores (multiple times)

Big Ten Club L.A. Food Bank Project
City Year Los Angeles school renovation

Also PSI U recently had a successful Philanthropy: PSI U THINK YOU CAN DANCE!

Sigma Chi

This month has been an exciting one we  revamped our spring philanthropy, changing it from our traditional run/walk to a concert performed by Midnight Hour, a start-up band from Orange County.

This change was aimed at increasing attendance across campus and attracting people that typically would not attend Greek events. This fit well into the busy but exciting philanthropy season as most Greek groups hosted their philanthropies.

To show our support for the greek system on campus our active chapter participated in Songfest 2011 performing dance and sing numbers with the ladies of Kappa Kappa Gamma and Gamma Phi Beta.

We will also be competing in Anchor Splash in order to support the ladies of Delta Gamma.

Delta Tau Delta

The brothers of Delta Tau Delta have been having a great spring semester.

Many had the opportunity to attend the Western Pacific Conference of Delta Tau Delta in Manhattan Beach where they learned more about the history and tradition of the fraternity as well as new techniques and strategies to improve themselves in countless ways back here in Malibu.

Not only was knowledge gained, but a renewed passion was found that is marking this semester as one of great achievements for the Delts. Having been paired up with the angelic ladies of Pi Beta Phi for Songfest, Delta Tau Delta is proud to say that after their weeks of hard work that they, along with the wonderful Pi Phis and friends, were able to take home the trophy in their first ever Songfest.

The tone has been set and you can expect much more from these exemplary gentlemen.

Alpha Phi

Over the past month, Alpha Phi has been an extremely active force on Pepperdine’s campus!

Our philanthropy, Eat Your Heart Out, was held last February, and it was a huge success, raising nearly $11,000! One hundred percent of the proceeds went directly to the Alpha Phi Foundation, which supports Cardiac Care.

The following weekend, we spent time bonding on our biannual sisterhood retreat, held this semester at the Mount Pali Retreat.  We hiked, zip-lined, and cooked s’mores together; it was a great way to get to know our sisters even better and grow closer as we had to rely on and trust each other in the midst of various ropes courses and other challenging activities.

In addition, Alpha Phi’s social involvement over the past few weeks has been quite memorable! We have had a mixer hike with Delta Tau Delta, and two date nights, one to the Santa Monica Pier where we received all-access wristbands for the rides, and more recently, a girl’s night at Crumbs with Tri-delt!

This was a welcome reward, having just come off of three weeks of Songfest dance practice and shows! We were honored this year to perform in Songfest with the lovely men of Sigma Phi Epsilon.

Pepperdine Alpha Phi’s third annual Mother-Daughter Tea was held the next day for all the mothers that flew in to town for Songfest, and it was a hit! We enjoyed a brunch-style morning, complete with fun games, raffles, and a senior recognition video.

Overall, the past month in the life of an Alpha Phi has been both exciting and memorable, to say the least!

Gamma Phi Beta

-Ashley Verbekmoes wins Songfest Producer award

- Annie Block-Weiss amazing performance as a songfest host

- Jessie Brown-Clark and Sarah Dannemiller spend their spring break working in a children's school in Haiti

- Gamma Phi is supporting a little girl living with Autism named Kerria in her effort to sell 1,500 Girl Scout cookies to win a Kindle so she is able to read books

Kappa Alpha Theta

Theta has been getting involved in some very exciting things lately. We had a fantastic group participate in songfest with Delta Gamma and Psi Upsilon.

Kicks For CASA is also swiftly approaching and hours of planning have been taking place to put on an incredible event.

The implementation of the Balanced Women program is taking place, and our first event was a Zumba class for the younger girls, and a cooking course for the older members living off campus.

The program is being used to promote healthy lifestyles in the years of young adulthood. Campus involvement continues to grow as girls prepare for Delta Gamma's Anchorsplash, Alpha Tau Omega's GladATOrs, and even the KICK international student soccer tournament.

We will be hosting an alumni brunch next weekend, with over 150 alumni from the area invited to attend. We have a very busy month ahead as we move towards to the end of the semester!

Alpha Tau Omega

Alpha Tau Omega has enjoyed a successful start to the spring semester. We currently have six new members, who have been learning about the fraternity, their brothers, and themselves, through a program put together by Michael Collier. You might have seen their creative handiwork recently, as they constructed their GladiATOrs themed display around "The Rock."

On the social front, we had a blast mixing with Alpha Phi and Delta Gamma this past month. John Clardy and Tori Bunn emerged victorious after an intense game of Mafia Wars with Alpha Phi. Also, our traditional shrimp boil with Delta Gamma got spiced up a bit this year, as Oliver Navratil's family flew in to treat us all to an authentically southern Crawfish Boil.

A large part of Greek Life is centered around philanthropic efforts and events. We certainly enjoyed "Psi U Think You Can Dance," put on by the men of Psi Upsilon, and "Eat Your Heart Out" put on by Alpha Phi. Congratulations to both groups for hosting successful events that raised a substantial amount of money for their worthy causes.

Looking forward, our GladiATOrs philanthropy on April 5th and 7th is sure to be memorable, thanks to Kendall Fisher and all the brothers involved in planning and fundraising. We would love your support as we raise money for Cystic Fibrosis, which is a cause near to our hearts.

We've had a great first half of the semester, and are looking forward to a fantastic finish for all members of the Pepperdine community. As a final note, congratulations to all of the songfest groups, especially Graham Picard, Patrick Flesher, and all of the ATOs and Delta Delta Deltas who put on this year's "Come Fly With Me" performance.
